Belgian painter, cartoonist, designer, and all-around brilliant artist, what I like about Vandenbroucke is that he is in no way the “X” guy. His work ranges from horror vacui in a veritable rainbow of colors to the most minimal of linework. His long-armed characters and the way he separates color in his prints, often with floating abstract shapes or wide zip-a-tone dot matrices, reminds me of Richard McGuire or Elvis Studio, which is an astounding amount of comprehension for someone so young.

At the same time, he embraces the visual elements of young artists, things like Super Mario bricks, classic trademark characters, and dripping slime. The environments in his paintings and the placement of objects within are like watching a psychedelically lawless version of the Sims, while the intensely adept shading makes me imagine that his studio is immaculate, not a drop wasted or stuck in his mustache (probably untrue).

I don't understand what "he is in no way the "x" guy" means. He's versatile artist? You guys are the worst writers.
